Qualification

There are 3 ways to qualify for the 2020 NorCal Classic

  1. Be the 2019 Champion. If you won your division, you will be invited back to defend your title

  2. The Online Qualifier. This year’s online qualifier will consist of five workouts, to be completed within 10 days from March 6th to March 15th, 2020. All qualifying athletes will be required to submit videos to verify scores.

3. Win a local event. Athletes can also receive an invitation by winning an approved local competition in their respective division. The current list of qualifying events is listed below.

August 24th - Stockton, CA - Summer Showdown, Presented by ASAP Fitness. (TEAM)

September 22nd - Sacramento, CA - Caffeine and Kilos Invitational, Presented by Caffeine and Kilos (TEAM)

September 21-22 - Seattle, WA - The Cascade Classic, Presented by RARR (INDY) (TEAM)

September 27-28 - Ventura, CA - The Masters Clash, Presented by Bill Grundler and Mike Tromello (MASTERS)

October 5 - Sacramento, CA - Iron October, Presented by Iron Mile Fitness (TEAM)

November 16 - Folsom, CA - Glory Days, Presented by Anywherefit (MASTERS)

February 1 - Stockton, CA - Golden State Games, Presented by Human Improvement Project (TEAM)

April 4-5 - San Jose, CA - Moxie Mania, Presented by CrossFit Moxie (INDY) (TEAM)

April 18-19 - Gnardog Challenge, Presented by Gnardog CrossFit (TEAM)

April 25-26 - Tacos and Ta Kill Ya, Presented by CrossFit AOF (TEAM)

divisions:  (Elite & RX), Scaled, Team, Masters.

Elite & RX

  • Athletes should select this division if they are traditionally an RX athlete in the CrossFit Open. All movements and standards will mimic that which you would commonly see in a typical Open competition.

  • All individual competitors for the Elite and RX division will compete in the same online qualifier. The top 30 athletes will be invited to compete in the Elite division for the 3 day event in May, pending video submission and validation. The next 30 athletes will be invited to compete in the RX division.

Scaled

  • Athletes should select this division if they are traditionally a scaled athlete in the CrossFit Open. All movements and standards will mimic that which you would commonly see in a typical Open competition.

  • The top 30 athletes from this division will be invited to compete in the 3 day event in May, pending video submission and validation.

Masters 35-39

  • Athletes should select this division if their 35th birthday falls before May 29, 2020. No exceptions.

  • The top 10 athletes from this division will be invited to compete in the 3 day event in May, pending video submission and validation.

Masters 40-44

  • Athletes should select this division if their 40th birthday falls before May 29, 2020. No exceptions.

  • The top 10 athletes from this division will be invited to compete in the 3 day event in May, pending video submission and validation.

Masters 45-49

  • Athletes should select this division if their 45th birthday falls before May 29, 2020. No exceptions.

  • The top 10 athletes from this division will be invited to compete in the 3 day event in May, pending video submission and validation.

Masters 50-54

  • Athletes should select this division if their 50th birthday falls before May 29, 2020. No exceptions.

  • The top 10 athletes from this division will be invited to compete in the 3 day event in May, pending video submission and validation.

Masters 55+

  • Athletes should select this division if their 55th birthday falls before May 29, 2020. No exceptions.

  • The top 10 athletes from this division will be invited to compete in the 3 day event in May, pending video submission and validation.

CO-ED Teams of 4

Elite

  • Two male and two female athletes will register as a team of 4. Only those athletes will be allowed to participate in the qualifier on behalf of their team. There is only one division for this category.

  • The top 30 teams will be invited to compete in the 3 day event in May, pending video submission and validation.

    RX

  • The next 15 teams from the online qualifier will be invited to compete in the RX division.

    Scaled

  • Two scaled male and two scaled female athletes will register as a team of 4. Only those athletes will be allowed to participate in the qualifier on behalf of their team.

  • The top 15 teams will be invited to compete in the 3 day event in May, pending video submission and validation.

REGISTRATION WINDOW: 1/1/2020 - 3/15/2020

Athletes and teams may register up until the online qualifier submission deadline.

FRIDAY 5/29

6:00AM - Athlete check in will open

9:00AM - Athlete briefing for Friday and Saturday events.

12:00PM - NorCal Classic kicks off. (All divisions)

SATURDAY 5/30

8:00AM - 8:00PM: TBD (all divisions)

SUNDAY 5/31

8:00AM - 5:00PM: TBD (all divisions)

PARTNER HOTELS

EVENT PARKING

From Friday 5pm until Sunday 5pm, daily parking will be available at the parking garage on 3rd street for $7 per day. Street parking will also be available for regular rates throughout the weekend.

FOOD & DRINK

Food trucks will be on site Saturday and Sunday all day. Caffeine & Kilos will be building a cafe for coffee and snacks as well. Additional food options are a 10 minute walk across the Tower Bridge in Old Sacramento. The on site beer garden will be open Friday night, and all day Saturday and Sunday. Athletes will be permitted to bring their own food and drink to the park as well.
